Certificate III in Dog Behaviour & Training (21574VIC)

This course is suitable for people from all walks of life, whether you wish to be involved with the training of dogs, or simply want to further your knowledge of animal psychology and behaviour. This course is run in conjunction with the National Dog Trainers Federation and additional information can be found on the NDTF website: www.ndtf.net.au.

  • VBN808 Conduct dog obedience and agility training
  • VBN809 Manage canines with behaviour problems
  • VBN810 Monitor canine health care
  • VBN811 Teach dogs complex skills and tricks
  • RUV2102A Follow OHS procedures in an animal care environment
  • RUV2105A Participate in workplace communications
  • RUV2107A Provide basic first aid for animals
  • RUV4512A Conduct companion animal classes
  • Plus a choice of:
  • RUV2104A Provide food and water for animals
  • VBN812 Train dogs for basic assistance roles
  • VBN813 Train dogs for basic substance detection
  • VBN814 Train dogs for basic tracking and trailing

Course Duration

8 months part-time for local courses or 10 months part-time for distance learning.

Entry Level

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English and be physically capable of handling a dog. Must also have regular access to a dog.

Distance learning - with some practical training required in Melbourne.

Recognition of Prior Learning/Exemptions

Recognition of Prior Learning can be attained in a number of ways. This includes any combination of formal or informal training and education, work experiences or general life experience.

To gain RPL, our assessors must be confident that you are currently competent against the endorsed industry competency standards or outcomes in accredited courses. The evidence may take a variety of forms and can include formal qualifications, references from past or present employers, testimonials from clients and work samples.
